SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) Services
Stage 1 - Keyword Research
Before we begin optimising a website we carry out extensive research on the sector in which our client operates - this stage involves close communication between us and the client.
Using the clients keyword ideas coupled with keyword statistic tools, we will put together a list of between 5-50 keywords and phrases that are applicable to the clients business.
We order these keywords by:
- Popularity (the amount of actual searches for a particular keyword)
- Relevance - how relevant the search words are to the clients business
- Competition - how many other companies there are competing for the keyword/term
Once we have this list, we then match each keyword/phrase to the appropriate page on the client's website.
At the end of this stage we will have a comprehensive list of keywords and phrases that are most likely to be typed in by potential customers as well as the most appropriate pages offering exactly what a potential customer is looking for.
Stage 2 - Paid for advertising
At this stage we have a list of keywords and we are ready to start marketing the website. We will set up a Google Ad words campaign based on the keywords/phrases accumulated at stage 1.
We will list the client's website in the sponsored links section of Google (The right-hand column of search results). This is the fasted way to get onto Google and also the easiest way of attracting customers to a website.
Advertising is paid for on a per click basis - we handle this directly with the budget provided by the client. In addition, we will target a pre-specified area (for example a 20 mile radius of the customer's base) - so we are only targeting a practical customer base - rather than receiving visitors from all over the country.
Incorporating stages 1 and 2 provides the client with a very good chance of receiving direct business as the only visitors coming to the site will have searched for the specific services that the client offers; they will click on the link and be directed to a page on the client's website that best describes that service.
Stage 3 - Google local listing
In addition to Google Paid for advertising, we also set up Google local listings - these listings are available on Google to services offered in a local area - so for example, a florist based in Kent would be listed at the top of the results page to anyone who searches for Florists AND is physically searching from a location in Kent - these results are listed on a nearest first basis. This is another great way of attracting relevant customers because it targets people on a local basis.
Stage 4 - Organic Search Optimisation
This stage is potentially the most fruitful method of advertising, but it is the longest task. We will carry out a comprehensive campaign with the goal of getting the clients website listed in the general search results on all of the popular search engines including:
- MSN
- Yahoo
- Bing
There are many factors that determine which sites come up for searches on these "Organic" listings, including:
- Coding standards the website has been built to
- Technology the website runs on
- The amount of content on a site
- Relevance of content
- Uniqueness of content
- Keyword density/relevance
- Page structure
- Links to and from the website
- Age of website
We will work on all of these factors on a continuous basis - our work will include re-writing content alongside the client to make sure it is best optimised for the search engines (this will focus on building unique and comprehensive content that is rich in keywords), adjusting page structure to suit targeted keywords, building links from other websites (this will help people to find the clients site whilst also letting the search engines know that it is an authorities site on the subject).
Stage 5 - Monitoring
Whilst we are working on the above detailed stages, we will constantly monitor the success of the campaign, this will include:
- Monitoring the Popularity of the website compared to the competition
- Keyword monitoring - we constantly track the position of all the keywords we are working with
- Visitor stats - monitoring how many visitors are coming to the site
- Visitor path tracking - what visitors do once they reach the site
Stage 6 - Adjustments
On a monthly basis we will assess all of the work we have done and how it has effected visitor levels and conversion rates, based on the information we find, we will constantly modify the campaign to keep it moving in the right direction.
It is also important to understand that an SEO campaign is a company wide effort - we expect our clients to put in the same amount of effort as we do, and we will work closely with the client so that everyone's efforts are co-ordinated.
Furthermore, an SEO campaign is a long-term engagement, you may not see many results for several months, but in the long term a campaign can bring substancial results in and many cases will be a much more cost effective method of "advertising" than traditional mediums such as newspapers, magazines and hard-copy directories (naming no names!).
Any SEO company that tells you otherwise is likely to lead you nowhere.
